Your Mother is NOT a Whore

A few weeks ago I had the huge privilege of giving a TEDx talk in front of 3,200 people at the Roger’s Arena. I thought I would take the opportunity to talk about something that I have wondered about for a while: Why do we, as a society, continue to think that women are less sexual than men?

You can see that talk here.

Great talk! I don’t suppose you could share your sources? Particularly the 19th century survey.

Interesting that a podcast I listened to regarding polygamy categorized women as either sluts or whores. Women who “exchange” sex for marriage or money were “whores.” Those who enjoyed sex were sluts. The polygamous group suggested this explanation was offered to female “candidates” to their lifestyle and those who can deem themselves at least as “non-whores” were further pursued to the next level of the “funnel.”

No matter who does more plowing, bread winning, considered more sexual, etc. Women who are not virgins are often not valued as long term partners by men. It’s not that they were harmed or damaged by sex but rather their freely giving access to their body (finite number of eggs, ovulations, gestation resources, etc) indicates poor judgement (faulty optimization strategy) deadly to any progeny. Also, supply vs demand. Make access (supply) plentiful reduces value
