It occurs to me that some people might think that in light of #RoeVsWadeoverturned birth rates will increase - let me disabuse you of that notion.
In the long run, birth rates could stay the same and they could even decrease in the absence of safe access to abortion.
I've been studying and teaching these theories for well over a decade, you know what? I have never once thought the papers that look at the economic benefits of abortion as being particularly controversial.
Did I miss something?
Economics educators need to start teaching more of these theories and evidence - women’s issues have been sidelined by the economics profession for too long.
There are many ways to look at Abortion rights. They are for sure human rights. Their access for sure impacts health. Their access for sure reduces maternal death.
